This apprenticeship is designed for those who like being around children and want to pursue a career in it.
This qualification will achieve the skills and knowledge necessary to work with children between birth and the age of 19.
When taking this apprenticeship there are a diverse number of job roles available to learners which will see them working with children with different situations and ages.

The Level 3 Apprenticeship in Children and the Young Person’s Workforce is worth 65 credits
This course consists of between 442 and 525 guided hours of learning.
There are no entry requirements for this apprenticeship in terms of qualifications. However, apprentices should have the recommended requirements for a successful candidate of the Level 2 Apprenticeship in Children and Young person’s workforce which are:
- Being able to successfully pass an enhanced CRB check
- Ability to demonstrate competence with children
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills
In addition to this, they may be required to demonstrate higher skills in numeracy, literacy and evidence of work with children.
What can an apprentice do with this apprenticeship?
This pathway provides the suitable level of occupational competence to meet regulatory and registration requirements for the sector.
Achievement of this pathway will enable apprentices to access higher level jobs within the sector, e.g. Nursery Supervisor, Nursery Manager, Pre-school Manager/Co-ordinator, etc.
There are also opportunities for apprentices to go on to further study at higher levels, particularly working towards Foundation Degrees in Early Years. This in turn will support the achievement of Early Years Professional Status (Graduate Level).
What do the jobs at Level 3 involve?
This job will often (but not necessarily) involve working in a supervisory role within a nursery/early learning and childcare setting, providing care for young children.

This job involves delivering the Early Years Foundation Stage within a school setting
What will an apprentice learn on this apprenticeship?
Like all apprenticeships this one contains; a knowledge based element, a competence based element, Skills (ICT, English and Maths), and a module on Employment Rights and Responsibilities, a module on Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS).
The knowledge based element of this apprenticeship will go through advanced techniques and knowledge required to successfully look after and help children to grow.
The competency part of this qualification is about demonstrating skills working in a child friendly setting gaining first-hand experience dealing with children in the workplace.
The skills part of this qualification will bring ICT, English and Maths skills up to the necessary level needed to carry out the role.
Finally the Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS) part of the course will teach generic skills which will be helpful in day to day life.
